Zach holds a very special place in our hearts as Lisa met him a mere four days before she passed away. She became an instant fan. Zach and his band have graciously donated their time to help the Frisco CrawPHish Boil for another year and many more to come.
The North Texas CrawPHish Boil was started by Aaron and Ramie Ramirez and their family to raise awareness about Pulmonary Hypertension (hence the “PH” in the name) in memory of their sister/daughter/aunt Lisa Ramirez. One of Lisa’s favorite activities each year was spending time with family and friends attending crawfish boils. It was Lisa’s personal dream to have a large-scale event benefiting the Pulmonary Hypertension Association similar to one hosted each year in the Woodlands, TX. This event is created to honor Lisa’s wishes, to continue to raise awareness about PH, and fundraise on behalf of the PHA.
Lisa’s Story: Lisa was diagnosed with PH in January 2008, in the middle of sophomore year at Texas A&M. Although it was a sudden diagnoses, her symptoms were ever present through her life as she struggled to participate in some of the simplest physical activities that many of us enjoy. For years her condition was attributed to asthma. Lisa persevered throughout her battle with PH by graduating from Texas A&M in 2010, continuing her education after graduation, and being the best daughter, sister, and aunt she could be. Lisa lost the good fight to PH rather unexpectedly on July 3, 2014. It is the family’s hope that Lisa’s legacy and wishes continue on through the Frisco CrawPHish Boil for many years to come.
